Dictator, You Seriously Need to Go on a Diet
This 267-page novel was written over three years. One day at a time, without stopping.
It’s part of something bigger: Activists in Heels, a movement built on the belief that fiction can call things out, raise awareness, and change minds just as powerfully as a speech or a protest.
Publishing is scary. But keeping these stories to myself would be even worse.
So here it is.
A murder. A dictator. Twenty-five million dollars. One extremely inappropriate parrot.
What could possibly go wrong?
When a high-ranking North Korean official is brutally murdered, the regime needs someone to solve the case before the situation turns into an international catastrophe.
Enter Lévesque: an eccentric elderly detective from Montreal who somehow finds himself in Pyongyang investigating secret lovers, suspicious servants, missing millions, political conspiracies, revolutionaries, and approximately everyone with a motive.
His investigative partner? Bonaparte, a foul-mouthed green parrot with a criminal relationship with pastries and absolutely no respect for authority.
Unfortunately, Lévesque has a deadline. The dictator is losing patience. World War III is becoming an increasingly inconvenient possibility. And the closer Lévesque gets to the truth, the more obvious one thing becomes:
Solving the murder might actually be the easy part.
Dictator, You Seriously Need to Go on a Diet is a darkly funny murder mystery about dictators, terrible decisions, moral dilemmas, international chaos, and what happens when the person responsible for preventing a geopolitical disaster is accompanied by a parrot who cannot behave himself.
