This 366-page novel was written over four years. One day at a time, without stopping.

It’s part of something bigger: Activists in Heels, a movement built on the belief that fiction can call things out, raise awareness, and change minds just as powerfully as a speech or a protest.

Publishing is scary. But keeping these stories to myself would be even worse.

So here it is.

My teacher said immigrants were stealing Canadian jobs.
I told her she was wrong.
That was only the beginning.

At her Montreal high school, Mrs. Tremblay has earned herself a nickname: Karen, the internet’s favourite name for an entitled woman who is always convinced she’s right.

And Karen has opinions. Lots of them.

After racist comments in class, humiliations, complaints from parents, and a suspension that changes basically nothing, one student decides she’s done keeping her head down.

She starts talking back.

Then the classroom becomes a battlefield. There are protests, detentions, school scandals, viral videos, furious parents, ridiculous punishments, friendships tested, and an administration desperately trying to protect the school’s reputation while everything around it falls apart.

What begins as one teenager refusing to stay silent turns into something much bigger: a fight over racism, class, power, and who gets believed when a student challenges the adults in charge.

And somewhere in the middle of all this chaos...
her teacher slaps her.

Yep. The title wasn’t clickbait.

The Day My Teacher Slapped Me is a funny, angry, chaotic coming-of-age novel about what happens when teenagers realize that respecting authority and blindly obeying it are two very different things.

Karen wanted control.
Her students chose chaos.
